Reminder: Arrow’s Stephen Amell To Appear On WWE Raw Tonight

[ Written on August 10 2015 by admin ]

Arrow fans already know to set aside their Wednesday nights at 8 pm when the show is in season, but they might want to make some appointment viewing at the same time on a Monday night this week.

That’s because the WWE is heavily promoting the fact that TV’s Oliver Queen, Stephen Amell, will be a guest on tonight’s episode of Monday Night Raw from Seattle. His appearance is the biggest escalation yet of an ongoing war of words — one waged primarily on Twitter to this point — between the actor and a wrestler who knows something about costumed alter egos: Cody Rhodes, currently better known as Stardust.

Though at one point it looked like we might see Amell in the ring at the WWE’s second biggest pay-per-view event of the year, SummerSlam, it now seems more likely that he’ll just be there to “give the rub” to Stardust and leave the in-ring work to a proxy. The way the feud has been written so far, all signs point to Neville, who has some comic book stylings of his own as the “Man Gravity Forgot,” actually locking up with Stardust on August 23 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Then again, the card hasn’t been officially announced yet outside of the main selling point, a rematch between Brock Lesnar and the Undertaker, so you can always hope, and the WWE (and pro wrestling as a whole, for that matter), does have a long history of using celebs like Amell in the ring in special circumstances. Even if we don’t get to see him get physical, at least the WWE is getting into the proper Arrow Season 4 spirit, advertising him as playing Green Arrow in the series.

We’ll be sure to give you the lowdown on any smackdown Amell is involved with later tonight. Raw airs at 8 pm on USA.

Video: Stephen Amell Discusses Casey Jones in Ninja Turtles 2

[ Written on July 14 2015 by admin ]

Casey Jones gets an origin story.

Casey Jones will take up his regular arsenal of sports equipment in Ninja Turtles 2, but that doesn’t mean he’ll be the same jovial character we’ve seen before.

Speaking with IGN Live at Comic-Con – you can see the full interview below – actor Stephen Amell discussed his role as Casey Jones in the upcoming sequel to 2014’s Ninja Turtles.

“It’s certainly not your father’s or your younger self’s Casey Jones, but that’s because we meet him at a very different time in his development,” Amell said.

“He is not the Casey Jones that a lot of comic fans have come to know and love. He is a guy with a job that lives in New York and loves hockey. When things go awry, [and] when he goes through the normal methods of what someone would do when they’re [a] law-abiding citizen and he’s met with laughter and scorn… he decides to take things into his own hands.”

An image of Amell in costume on the set of the film was released in early May, showing him as the classic character wielding a hockey stick.

Amell indicated he picked up some notable new skills making the movie, turning to his Arrow executive producer Wendy Mericle and saying, “By the way, if Oliver needs to do any new fighting this year, I would suggest a baseball bat or a hockey stick, because I am now proficient!”

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 will debut in theaters on June 3, 2016.

Oliver Gets a Heroic New Look

[ Written on July 13 2015 by admin ]

The Arrow is getting a makeover. Oliver Gets a Heroic New Look

A new suit for the titular character was revealed at Arrow‘s Comic-Con panel on Saturday night.

Star Stephen Amell — who came out in his new “Green Arrow” duds — gave credit to Maya Mani, who has “made every single suit on our show since the original Arrow costume,” he said. “She nailed it.”

The new getup signals a big transformation for the titular hero. “We’ve always said the progression for Oliver is very much from the Arrow to Green Arrow,” executive producer Greg Berlanti described. “This is first real stop in that direction.”

With that evolution also comes a new attitude, although “the show isn’t going to suddenly become a comedy,” EP Andrew Kreisberg said. “When the season starts, he’s in much a better place. He’s happy. He’s in love. That feeling infuses all the characters. There’s a little bit more fun [and] more humor.”

Added EP Wendy Mericle: “We actually get to have Oliver make some jokes in the lair, which is a first,” and get to see what it’s like to have him in a relationship.
