Grab your favorite red pen and get ready to take some notes, Arrow fans because we’ve got a whole lot of brand new Olicity information to cover.
ETonline recently took a trip to the Arrow set in Vancouver and we caught up with stars Stephen Amell and Emily Bett Rickards to get the inside scoop on what’s next for your favorite crime fighting couple. (FYI, we can feel your jealousy radiating through the computer screen right now.)
So, when can we expect that gorgeous engagement ring to return, and what would Felicity’s answer be if Oliver proposes? Read on for all the wedding bell details.
Fans — and by “fans,” we mean us — hyperventilated with excitement in the season four premiere when we were thisclose from seeing an “Olicity” engagement, only to be crushed when Oliver hid the ring for an unknown rainy day.
(For the record even Amell admitted to ETonline that putting an engagement ring in a random bowl in their living room loft is “the stupidest place to keep it.”)
For those who are dying to see the couple exchange “I do’s,” Amell revealed that fans will see that engagement “sometime during this season.” When we pressed for a more specific timeframe, the Arrow star remained coy — but at least we know it’s coming back, y’all!
So what does Rickards think of that stunning Queen heirloom sparkler? “Well, Felicity hasn’t seen it, but I haven’t [even] tried it on,” she confessed. “I don’t know if it fits! I should really probably measure my finger, but yeah, that’s a rock!”
The actress added with a laugh, “I mean, Felicity’s life is so different than mine, like, there’s no diamond on these fingers.”
And if — OK, more like when — Oliver does pop the question, Rickards is confident she knows what Felicity’s answer would be.
“She’d probably be like, ‘Oh my God!'” she exclaimed in her best Felicity voice. “I mean as her answer I think she’d probably be very excited. She’s totally in love with him, so why wouldn’t she say yes? Unless there[were] some secrets being kept…”
Secrets on Arrow? What a shocking concept!
Hypothetical secrets aside, we have a feeling that fan favorite Donna Smoak would be fully supportive of her daughter’s impending engagement. Especially since, according to Amell, Donna and Oliver have maintained a close relationship over the past few months.
“It’s really good actually!” the actor gushed when asked about Oliver and Donna’s dynamic, which will be explored further in episode six “Lost Souls.” “I’d always imagined that Oliver and her had been speaking in the time between them leaving together at the end of season three — them being Oliver and Felicity – and then returning to the suburbs.”
“I had always imagined that Oliver, in his easygoing state, would have a dialogue with Donna Smoak, which is proven correct and leads to some funny moments but the dynamic between the two of them is excellent,” he added.
With Olicity moving forward with their new lives together in Star City, Amell spilled that Felicity is extremely encouraging of Oliver’s quest to be Star City’s mayor. “She’s very supportive of it,” he shared. “It galvanizes their relationship.”
As for Oliver’s relationships with the rest of Team Arrow? Amell said that Ollie has grown leaps and bounds when it comes to trusting in his friends’ abilities. He now has one simple rule for his fellow crime fighters: “If you guys are in, you guys are in,” he stressed. “I’m going to trust that you can handle yourselves.”
“Even though one of them is my sister [Thea], and the other two [Diggle and Laurel] are life-long friends and people that I care about and love, and another one is someone that I am in love with and actively dating and considering proposing to, so that is a growth point for Oliver,” Amell continued.
And with that big Arrow death looming over our heads, we’re already stocking up on tissues for whomever Oliver is crying over in that graveyard. While we have our seven suspicions for who we think it could be, Amell has his as well. “Of course I have suspicions,” he teased without naming names.
“The only time that I was really cracked over the head was reading the script of 401 and reading the flash-forward,” Amell said. “One of my favorite shows of all time is Lost and my favorite episode ever is when they flash-forward for the first time, so for us to do that in episode 401 was very cool.”
And, of course, ETonline had to ask the question every Olicity fan is probably wondering: Could they ever kill off Felicity? “They can kill off anyone,” Amell answered. “Modern television has proven to us that you can literally kill off anyone.”
This is true, but let’s be honest: We’ll lose our s#!t if it’s Felicity.
