“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2” will feature characters that were not part of the first film, including Casey Jones.
Fans of the comic books from which the movie is based already know who the character is, but how he will be introduced in the film will be different.
Stephen Amell, who plays the character, told Screen Rant: “Just from looking at my appearance — as opposed to what comic book fans have come to expect from Casey Jones — we are meeting Casey in this movie at a very different point.”
The actor continued: “The Casey that we met in the previous live-action films was a finished product. I’m doing a completely different job [at this point the story] than I am by the end of the movie. So, I like it because it’s very much an origin story for my character. It’s certainly not the centerpiece of the movie. But for me personally, I like finding a character in a phase of discovery.”
Amell previously teased the character’s uniqueness in an interview with IGN, saying: “He is not the Casey Jones that a lot of comic fans have come to know and love.”
The actor continued: “He is a guy with a job that lives in New York and loves hockey. When things go awry, [and] when he goes through the normal methods of what someone would do when they’re [a] law-abiding citizen and he’s met with laughter and scorn … he decides to take things into his own hands.”
Apart from Amell’s character, new additions to the upcoming film’s cast Shredder’s daughter Kirai (Brittany Ishibashi), Bebop (Gary Anthony Williams), and Rocksteady (Stephen “Sheamus” Farrelly).
The movie will also feature returning actors Megan Fox, Alan Ritchson, Will Arnett, Wlliam Fichtner, Noel Fisher, Pete Ploszek, Jeremy Howard, and Danny Woodburn.
“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2” will be out in theaters June 3, 2016.
